Less than a month to go before Eden Rock Edinburgh's first-ever Winter Bouldering Series! What's the Winter Bouldering Series (WBS) you might ask? Read on to find out...
The WBS is a competition run from November to March at Eden Rock. There is one round a month (total of 5) and your best 4 rounds count towards your final score. All rounds except Round 3 will be set on the competition wall. Round 3 will be set on the white circuit around the centre (not the usual white grades).
The competition is open to everyone, with climbs ranging from beginner level to super-duper hard. It's a fully inclusive event, so if you've never competed before – get involved! It's a great chance to climb alongside fellow members, to focus your training over the winter months and (most importantly) to get climbing and have some fun!
The dates for the WBS are:
- Round 1: Friday 9 November 5pm-10pm
- Round 2: Friday 14 December 5pm-10pm
- Round 3: All of January (4th-31st)
- Round 4: Friday 15 February 5pm-10pm
- Final Round: Saturday 16 March 11am-4pm
Climbers compete in 7 different categories, depending on age and gender. WBS sponsor Rock+Run is providing some mega prizes for the top three in each category, with some great kit up for grabs for our lucky winners.
The categories are:
- Under-12 (feet on any colour in all rounds)
- Under-18 Male | Under-18 Female
- Open Male | Open Female
- Vet Male | Vet Female (50+)
The competition is self-scored, meaning you're responsible for collecting, marking and handing in your own scorecards at each round. If you've never competed before, don't worry; our friendly instructors will explain how it all works.
More updates to follow on social media and at the centre, so keep an eye out for news. In the meantime, carry on climbing and get ready for:
