Eden Rock Customer Update

With the move to lower restriction levels around Scotland on the 19th of July 2021, you may be wondering; what affect will that have on my climbing sessions?

 

In short, we are keeping the majority of existing measures in place. We do however plan to review this again at the beginning of August when the Scottish Government plan to ease restrictions further.

 

Here’s why:

 

• We have listened carefully to feedback from our customers, as well as our staff. Throughout the pandemic we’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response when we have adopted a conservative approach, and we thank you for supporting us in this.

 

• Unfortunately, Midlothian at time of writing has the highest rates of infection in Scotland, and so we feel the time isn’t yet right to reduce our COVID control measures.

 

• We have a young staff team, most of whom are yet to have their second vaccination. We can only continue to operate if they are happy and healthy; any one of our staff having to isolate would have a severe impact on our ability to operate.

 

• The ‘feel’ of the wall is something we also put a lot of thought into getting right. Although we are of course still recovering from the closures, we have chosen not to cram as many people into the wall as possible at the expense of centre users feeling uncomfortable or unsafe.

 

We are continuing to do everything we can to stay open and be as safe as possible. This includes:

 

• Asking that face coverings be worn at all times, unless on the wall, eating/drinking in the café or using the gym.

• Monitoring capacity by asking everyone to sign in AND out.

​

• Asking that centre users regularly sanitise their hands.

​

• Operating a one way system, and reduced capacity in specific areas around the centre.

​

• Keeping the wall well ventilated with windows and doors open, and fans operating at all times.

​

• Continuing with our regular cleaning of customer areas and touch points.

​

• Displaying reminder signage throughout the wall.

 

Despite most restrictions remaining unchanged, we are pleased to announce that we’ll be restarting our regular kids’ classes after the Summer holidays. The first sessions will begin on Wednesday the 18th of August. Priority for booking will be given to anyone who was mid-block at the start of the first lockdown. We’ll begin contacting everyone regarding rebooking next week.
