Welcome to Eden Rock Newcastle!

We are Newcastle's newest indoor bouldering wall, located on Benfield road, just off the coast road. We offer a huge range of climbing and training facilities for all ages and abilities. So whether you're 7 years old or 70, a total beginner or a seasoned pro, we have something for you!

We've got a dedicated Kids' area for under 6s, courses for beginners, and coaching classes available for climbers of all abilities. We also run a specialist climbing shop and an eco-friendly café to sit back, relax and enjoy a treat (or two!). Click below for answers to our most common questions!

Novice Adult Climbers

If you've never climbed before, you'll need to be supervised in the centre on your first visit. This is to make sure you and other users of the wall are kept safe. You can either be supervised by a competent climber who can sign you in as a guest, or more commonly by one of our instructors on an Induction Course. After completing the short induction course or visiting a few times as a guest, you'll have all the knowledge you need to become a member so that you can use the centre unsupervised. Hooray!

We will not be running kids classes initially, but do hope to in the future. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for updates.

Children can climb when supervised by an adult member (max. 2 kids/member). If you're a beginner and want to supervise children, please be sure to book and attend an Induction Course first.

Experienced Adult Climbers

If you've bouldered lots before you can either register online, or at reception on your first visit. Once you've registered, the staff will ask you a few questions so that we are happy that you have enough experience to use the centre safely. After a quick tour you'll be free to explore and get to grips with the boulders!

Bouldering walls can be a fun, safe way to enjoy the sport, with large mats covering all climbing areas. But like all things they can be dangerous if not used correctly. Please read and follow the conditions of use of the wall to keep yourself and others safe.

We have limited number of spaces outside the front entrance of the wall, plus some limited parking dotted about in other bits of the estate. See map here indicating parking facilities. Where possible we'd encourage use of the Metro to get to us, we're a 2 minute walk from Walkergate Metro Centre. We've also got a bicycle rack for cycling enthusiasts.
